Finding the Best Cinnamon Rolls in Stirling

It is the season for cosy nights in, pumpkin spice anything and first and foremost cinnamon rolls!

And if like us, you’re a sucker for freshly-made gooey and still warm dough with just the right amount of sugar and spice, we’ve got a treat for you.

If anything, it’s the cinnamon rolls that are IT and everybody seems to be catching up on the trend.

Just recently, the beloved American bakery, Cinnabon, opened its fourth Scottish kiosk in Stirling’s Thistles Shopping Centre. The re-arrival of Cinnabon created unprecedented hype.

While we are always delighted to see a new business addition to the Stirling City Centre, we want to remind you that you don’t have to stand in a queue for 20mins. There are lots of cosy local independent cafes and bakeries that are renowned for their cinnamon rolls.

So buckle up, here they come – amazing businesses in Stirling serving up the best buns.

Janna's Bakery

Janna’s Bakery cinnamon rolls understood the assignment.

We knew they would be the real deal once we learned they were  popular since before Janna opened her high street coffee shop at 67 Port St in 2022.

Janna’s giant cinnamon buns are without a doubt their most popular item but you can also choose from a wide variety of cakes, cookies, and savoury treats or just get a coffee or cooked breakfast and relax with friends and family in their warm seating area or sit outside.

But back to the cinnamon rolls. While we all love a classic cinnamon roll, at Janna’s you can mix it up with flavours like; caramel apple, buns with cream cheese frosting, salted caramel or lemon custard with fresh blueberries and other seasonal varieties.

Don’t get us wrong, when it comes to those temptress rolls, we are the first to let loose and let those greedy temptations take over, however, we would recommend sharing these to any ordinary person, they are that big.

Drool over Janna’s creations and stay up to date with what is fresh out of the oven by following Janna’s Facebook and Janna’s Instagram pages.

And if you want to learn more about Janna’s bakery, we have a lovely story about Janna’s Bakery Opening.

HBW

Now, if you appreciate Scandinavian-style cinnamon rolls, this is your sign to visit HBW at 54 Barnton Street, where warm comforting and fresh babka buns await.

Connor, the owner of HBW, opened his cafe in 2018 and has been stealing our hearts ever since. He knows what’s in and always delivers, no cap!

Admittedly, we are suckers for the cafe’s pancakes and all things brunch (vegan or not) which HBW is all about but we are here to talk about cinnamon swirl goodness (which are equally irresistible!).

We can’t help it, HBW’s babka rolls are becoming a regular occurrence on our weekly schedule. At HBW it’s not all about cinnamon though, we dare to say that the cardamom rolls are even better and then there’s also a chocolate variety.

So, if you want to visit HBW for brunch (superb for vegans too), or grab some sweet treats for a mid-day pick-me-up along with some good coffee (also known as Hot Brown Water aka HBW, get it?), be sure to follow HBW’s Instagram page for the current opening hours and latest specials such as leftover babka french toast – say what?!

Vera Artisan Bakery and Kitchen

Starting as a small artisan bakery in 2020, Vera Artisan Bakery has quickly become a local favourite for all things bread and cakes. No wonder, having won the Best Cafe/Bakery at the 2023 Stirling Business Awards (along with various other awards for their bread), the bakery has some serious riz.

So much so that the owner Texy realised that she needed to expand. And so it relocated to 51 King Street and added cooked meals to its repertoire.

And what bakery would it be if it didn’t make cinnamon rolls? We had them, they are soft, they are sweet, they are superb! Vera’s keeps their cinnamon in high demand by offering them exclusively to the weekends

The large sitting area and kiddie corner make Vera’s the perfect location for long catch-ups over cakes and coffees or brunch with desserts.

Find out more about Vera’s seasonal creations by visiting  Vera’s Facebook and Vera’s Instagram pages.

Toasted

On those frosty Scottish days, coorie inside Toasted Cafe with a steaming cup of coffee and a freshly baked bun.

toasted cinamon rools

The cafe’s large windows really help to create a whole cozy vibe. So while you’re enjoying your cuppa and cinnamon treat, have a seat at the window and watch the ice crystals on the tree outside while you stay warm.

If you are not in the mood for a cinnamon roll (firstly, who isn’t always in the mood for a gooey, delicious roll?…) then we highly recommend the Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap. It’s fire.

Visit Powel and his friendly staff for breakfast or lunch at 44 King Street, FK8 1AY.

Cisco's Cafe

Now, while cinnamon rolls are not always on the menu, we have to give an honourable mention to the family-owned cafe that has been flexing in Stirling for 26 years!

You can often find Cisco’s Cafe bustling with the morning and lunchtime where you will be greeted by David, Cisco’s owner, and his employees. Over the years, Cisco’s has become the G.O.A.T for breakfast rolls, soups and sandwiches. They also have a collection of fan favourite tray-bakes.

So, they may not have cinnamon swirl during your visit, but be sure and grab a slice of nostalgia with their oat and cream biscuits or rocky-road.

Visit Cisco’s at 70 Port Street Monday-Saturday from early in the morning until early in the afternoon.

Caffe Nero

What did we say about everyone catching up to the trend? Well, you probably heard that Cafe Nero added cinnamon buns to their bakery range.

So, grab your favourite festive drink and a cinnamon bun from them and be on your way or chill inside, whichever you prefer.

Cafe Nero is open Monday-Saturday from 7:30am-7pm and Sundays from 9am-6pm at 2-4 Port Street.

Ok, ok. Two more before you roll away.

Sometimes a supermarket meal deal is what our wallets are telling us we can have, and while they are not part of the meal deal (sorry sis), Marks & Spencers Stirling and Sainsbury’s Local can add cinnamon goodness to your lunch break. Or breakfast.

Now that we have tempted your taste buds, leave a comment about your favourite cinnamon roll in Stirling. IYKYK.
