A new hair salon Jayla & Co has opened in the heart of Stirling on Baker Street.
The salon boasts a talented team of award-winning stylists and is run by Jayla Simpson – a registered trichologist who specialises in hair loss and scalp concerns.
The team is made up of Jayla, Master Stylist Dawn, Designer Stylist Megan and Stylist Brooke plus enthusiastic young apprentices Ellie, Abbie, Debbie and Beth.
The women are keen to welcome old and new clients into the luxury salon for a relaxing experience and a range of services including colour, specialist treatments, hair extensions and perming. The team also offer bridal and hair-up services, eyebrow shaping and sculpting, make-up and manicures.
Before setting up her own business, Jayla worked in a five-star salon in Stirling for 17 years until it closed down. She says: “I always dreamed of having my own salon but never took the plunge and I don’t think I could have done, had it not been for the salon closing. So, it all worked out well in the end and it’s something I probably should have done years ago!
The girls on my team worked at the same salon and came with me when I opened Jayla & Co. I was both excited and a little nervous about starting my own business but it’s all going great so far.
There have only been about three days when we’ve not been fully booked since opening in May and we’ve had new clients passing by who have come in along with some of our neighbouring business owners. Our former clients have also found us now and it’s just a great team. We’re friends who have all worked together for years and we’ve really hit the ground running.”
Jayla took over premises previously used by web design studio Nettl (which just moved down the road) on Baker Street and gave the unit a revamp before opening the doors on May 11.
She also took the opportunity to apply for one of Go Forth’s shopfront grants to revitalise the front of the building. She says: “We got the keys on April 4 and spent the next few weeks getting the interior and exterior sorted which was challenging work and a real team effort. It was fantastic to have the grant from Go Forth Stirling for the exterior and the staff all helped with the inside of the shop.
My husband Tony and daughter Abigail (14) also got involved – with Abigail even helping to lay the floor! So, it was a real family affair and we are proud of what we have achieved. We also have lots of exciting plans for the salon such as hosting a summer party and holding ladies’ nights where we can show clients how to do hair up, plaits and more.”
Details of all the salon’s stylists plus their qualifications and specialities can be found on the firm’s website along with a price list for the various services – www.jaylaandco.co.uk
Jayla & Co is open from Tuesday to Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday) from 10am and you can contact the salon on firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01786 643649.
