A new café serving fresh home-cooked food has opened in Stirling’s King Street.
Indulgence Café & Bistro, run by husband-and-wife team Garry and Diane Stewart, has taken over the premises which were previously home to the Loving Food café.
The family-friendly eatery, which seats 60 people, serves a range of delicious meals including homemade soup, nachos, bruschetta, sandwiches and vegetarian pasties. Cakes, traybakes, hot drinks and a breakfast menu are also on offer at the café which is open daily except for Tuesdays.
Diane and Garry, who have both worked in the hospitality industry for many years, opened Indulgence Café on March 28 and the business is already proving popular with customers.During lockdown, they decided it was time to give their own business a try with Garry as chef and Diane focusing on customer service.
Garry says: “Starting our own café is something we’ve always been passionate about and while we were furloughed during lockdown, we decided it was time for a change and to really go for it.It was the push and the time we needed to create a business plan and look at setting up our own business.
We spent lockdown focusing on our plans and looking for the right premises and while we were initially thinking about starting a 20-cover café, we’ve ended up with a 60-seater café and bistro. I’m the cook while Diane is 100% the face of the business and we work well together.”
The couple’s ethos is to always serve fresh home-cooked food with all the cooking and baking done in-house. They have also diversified their menu since opening after listening to feedback and ideas from customers – introducing a breakfast menu and coming up with delicious pastries for vegetarians.
A recent Trip Advisor review describes the café as having “The Best Coffee in Stirling.”The customer also notes: “If you are wanting a good cup of coffee, this is the place to go. Not only do the staff members have a good knowledge of coffee, they are also extremely kind and welcoming – it is evident they care about every customer that comes through their door.”
Garry says: “So far all is going well and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from customers and are very much enjoying running our own business. We’re now looking forward to seeing more Stirling people coming back into the city and visiting us as restrictions ease – and hoping we’ll see more tourists arrive as we move into the summer months.”
Indulgence Cafe is based at 51 King Street and is open from 9am until 5pm Monday to Saturday (except Tuesdays when the café is closed) and from 11am until 5pm on Sundays.
The Café has a family-friendly area offering high-chairs plus toys and colouring materials to keep youngsters happy – as well as baby changing facilities and a pram storage area.
It is also pet-friendly and offers a loyalty card for regular customers.
