We’re delighted to welcome new business The Book Nook to Stirling

Stirling is now home to an independent second-hand book shop and café – The Book Nook.

Based in Upper Craigs, the business is run by University of Stirling graduates Leanne Brown and Jasmine Stenhouse and opened on Monday September 14.

It offers a huge range of fiction novels for adults and children plus a seating area where customers can relax and enjoy a coffee or cake.

Leanne and Jasmine are both English graduates who met at university and shared a dream to one day run an independent bookshop.

Leanne says: “A few years ago, we were out for lunch and started talking about our jobs and how we both wanted to do something else. Both of us loved books and our ideal job would be to run a bookshop – it did seem a bit of a pipe dream at first but we did our research and decided to go for it.

“We felt there was a gap in the market in Stirling and that it was the ideal place for a second-hand book shop since it hosts the Bloody Scotland Festival each year. It took us a while to get to where we are today but we’re delighted to be opening our doors and offering a wide range of books for sale.”

The Book Nook features bookcases filled with a variety of adult fiction plus a non-fiction section with books on various subjects including Science and Maths.

Young adults and children are also well catered for with a wide range of publications to choose from.

Leanne and Jasmine have had many books given to them in recent months and are keen to hear from anyone who has fiction of all genres to donate.

They are interested in all kinds of books – whether they are classic or contemporary novels, poetry or plays – for readers of all ages.

They are also keen to hear from customers who have a large collection of literature or fiction to sell and can be contacted via email or a direct message on one of their social media channels.

The Book Nook also hosts a café at the front of the shop selling a variety of filled bagels, a daily selection of freshly baked cakes plus hot and cold drinks.

Leanne and Jasmine offer both a sit-in and a takeaway service and describe The Book Nook as a “casual and cosy space for people across all stages of life to immerse themselves in the comfort of fictional stories with a good cuppa.”

The Book Nook is based at 24, Upper Craigs and is open daily from 8am until 6pm and on Thursdays from 8am until 9pm.
